How to Cancel DashPass Before It Renews (Web or iPhone)
Quick answer
First question: where did you subscribe? If you signed up with DoorDash directly, cancel in the app or at doordash.com: account icon, "Manage DashPass", "Cancel Membership", pick a reason, "Cancel DashPass", then "Got it". If you subscribed through Apple, the DoorDash app cannot cancel it: go to iPhone Settings, tap your name, "Subscriptions", "DoorDash", "Cancel Subscription". Either way, do it at least 24 hours before your renewal date.

Canceling DoorDash DashPass is quick once you know its two traps. Trap one is timing: cancel less than 24 hours before renewal and you are charged for another period, monthly or annual. Trap two is location: if Apple bills your DashPass, the cancel button inside the DoorDash app will not work, and often will not even appear.
The tell for trap two: open the DoorDash app and look for "Cancel Membership" under "Manage DashPass". If it is missing or grayed out, your subscription is most likely billed through the App Store, and only Apple can cancel it. Both paths are below.
How do you cancel DashPass on the web or in the app?
For DoorDash-billed subscriptions, the flow is the same in the app and at doordash.com, and DoorDash's help center documents it:
- Open the DoorDash app or sign in at doordash.com.
- Tap the account icon.
- Choose "Manage DashPass".
- Tap "Cancel Membership".
- Select a cancellation reason, then "Cancel DashPass", and confirm with "Got it".
- Keep the confirmation email DoorDash sends.
The same screen offers "Pause Membership" as an alternative. That is DoorDash's built-in counteroffer; more on it in the retention section below.
How do you cancel DashPass on iPhone (Apple billing)?
If the cancel button is missing or grayed out, do not fight the app. A subscription started through Apple's in-app purchase system belongs to Apple's billing, and DoorDash cannot end it from its side. Cancel it where it lives:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap "Subscriptions".
- Tap "DoorDash".
- Tap "Cancel Subscription" and confirm.
This is the standard route for anything billed through the App Store. If you are not sure what else Apple bills you for, iPhone subscriptions and what Apple's list misses walks through the whole list.
On Android, a Google Play billing path has been reported: if DashPass shows no cancel option in the DoorDash app, check Play's "Payments and subscriptions" screen.
Can you cancel DashPass by phone, email, or chat?
There is no documented phone or email cancellation path; the official flow is self-serve in the app or on the web. One documented fallback exists: through 2025 and 2026, some app versions showed no cancel button even for DoorDash-billed plans, and the workaround users report is asking in-app chat support to "Cancel DashPass Subscription".
You cannot cancel DashPass by:
- Deleting the DoorDash app. Billing continues either way.
- Using the DoorDash app or site when Apple bills the plan. Use iPhone Settings instead.
- Emailing support. No cancel-by-email path is documented.
Worth knowing
Cancel at least 24 hours before your next scheduled payment, or you are charged for the upcoming period: $9.99 on the monthly plan, $96 on the annual. One quirk runs the other way: cancel during a free trial and benefits end immediately, not at period end.
The retention offers you'll see
DoorDash's cancel flow is short. The offer inside it is "Pause Membership", presented before you confirm. If a busy season ending is your reason for leaving rather than the service itself, a pause might fit; check what the pause screen offers before you choose.
Outside the flow, discounts come around. Deal trackers logged $59-per-year annual promotions against the usual $96 through 2025 and 2026. Students have a standing deal at $4.99 per month or $48 per year after verification, and from August 17 to October 12, 2026, DoorDash is running a free student year in the US and Canada: 12 months at $0 that converts to the paid $4.99 monthly student plan afterward unless cancelled.
When is taking an offer the right call? If the only problem is price and a promo covers the gap, keeping DashPass at a discount can cost less than paying full delivery fees on the orders you actually place. Run the math against your real order history, not your intentions.
What happens after you cancel DashPass?
On a paid plan, benefits continue through the end of the current billing period, monthly or annual, and then stop; the $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees on eligible orders go with them. DoorDash sends a confirmation email, and you can resubscribe anytime. The exception is trials: cancel during a free trial and DashPass benefits stop immediately.
If you came here hunting a DashPass annual refund, here is the straight version. DashPass fees are generally nonrefundable under DoorDash's US terms, so canceling an annual plan mid-year does not return the unused months as cash. The official safety valve is the DashPass Savings Guarantee: if your total DashPass savings over the annual term come in under the $96 fee, DoorDash refunds the difference as DoorDash credit. Credit, not cash: it lands in your DoorDash account, not your bank account.
DoorDash has also been reported to refund the first paid period when cancelled within 48 hours, and annual plans within 30 days under qualifying conditions. Neither window appears in DoorDash's own cancellation article or its published terms, so treat both as reported rather than promised. Ask support if your charge is fresh, but plan around the Savings Guarantee, which is the one refund route DoorDash documents.
If DoorDash makes it hard
Most stuck cancellations are billing-surface confusion, and the fix is above: find out who bills you, then use that door. For the rest, keep your confirmation email, note the dates, and work the ladder in how to cancel any subscription. If you were charged after canceling, or the renewal beat you by hours, the refund playbook covers the request paths, including Apple's own refund flow for Apple-billed plans. Bank-side blocking is the last resort, with side effects worth understanding first: how to stop automatic payments.
A subscription you stopped noticing usually has company on the statement. The manual method for finding the rest is in our subscription audit guide. ReNood handles the tedious part: it reads a statement and finds recurring charges like this one, without your bank login.

Why can't I cancel DashPass in the DoorDash app?
Usually because Apple bills it. If you subscribed through the iOS app's in-app purchase flow, "Cancel Membership" can be missing or grayed out, and only Apple can cancel it: Settings, your name, "Subscriptions", "DoorDash", "Cancel Subscription". If DoorDash bills you and the button still is not there, users report in-app chat support will cancel it.
Can I get my DashPass annual fee back?
Generally not as cash. DashPass fees are treated as nonrefundable, and canceling mid-year leaves benefits running to term end rather than triggering a refund. The official exception is the Savings Guarantee: if your tracked savings over the annual term total less than the $96 fee, DoorDash refunds the difference as DoorDash credit. Reported 48-hour and 30-day refund windows remain unverified.
If I cancel DashPass, do I keep it until my renewal date?
Yes, on a paid plan. Benefits continue through the end of the billing period you already paid for, monthly or annual, then stop without further charges. The exception is a free trial: cancel mid-trial and benefits end immediately instead of running out the trial clock.
How much is DashPass for students?
$4.99 per month or $48 per year after student verification, as of August 2026. Between August 17 and October 12, 2026, eligible students in the US and Canada can get 12 months free; it converts to the paid $4.99 monthly student plan afterward unless cancelled first.
Does deleting the DoorDash app cancel DashPass?
No. The subscription keeps billing with or without the app on your phone. Cancel in the DoorDash app or at doordash.com if DoorDash bills you, or in iPhone Settings under "Subscriptions" if Apple does. Delete the app after, if you still want to.
